These are the congratulatory remarks made by Shinil Educational Foundation Chair Lee Sang-kyun during the IAUP Semi-Annual Meeting held in Seoul, Oct. 14. — ED.

Dear Distinguished Guests and Esteemed Colleagues,

It is my great honor to welcome you to Seoul and to Seoul Cyber University, the host institution of the IAUP 60th Anniversary & Semi-Annual Meeting.

This milestone gathering brings together university presidents, scholars and partners from around the world to celebrate six decades of IAUP’s remarkable journey in shaping global higher education and fostering international cooperation.

I wish to express my sincere appreciation to IAUP President Dr. Shawn Chen and all IAUP members whose vision, leadership and tireless efforts have made this historic meeting possible. Their dedication ensures that this is not merely a celebration of the past, but a beacon for the future of higher education in an age of rapid change.

For the past 25 years, Seoul Cyber University has pioneered online higher education in Korea. Guided by innovation, inclusiveness and global citizenship, we have sought to empower learners of all ages and backgrounds to pursue their aspirations through education that transcends time and place. As Korea’s first cyber university, we have embraced technology not as a replacement for human wisdom, but as a means to expand creativity, reflection and lifelong learning. Hosting this global event is therefore not only a privilege, but also a source of deep inspiration for our community.

On behalf of Seoul Cyber University, I extend my warmest welcome to all of you. May your participation in this meeting bring rich discussions, meaningful friendships and lasting inspiration, and may your time in Seoul be both memorable and rewarding.

Thank you.

Do not go gentle into that good night, old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light, though wise men at their end know dark is right, because their words had forked no lightning they, do not go gentle into that good night.
