Korean, US troops hold joint medical evacuation drills

Korean and U.S. troops on Thursday conducted medical evacuation drills to enhance their joint response capabilities in the event of a mass casualty incident, a combined military command said.
A total of 24 Korean and U.S. military units as well as the state-run railroad operator and two university hospitals took part in the Dragon Lift field training exercise, according to the Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command (CFC).
The drills also mobilized the KUH medium-sized utility helicopter and the U.S. CH-47 Chinook helicopter.
Thursday's exercise, aimed at increasing interoperability between Korean and U.S. medical troops, was conducted under a scenario of evacuating and providing swift medical response to 140 wounded people, the CFC said.
