Navy to celebrate 75th anniversary of Incheon Landing Operation

The Navy was set to hold a ceremony Monday to mark the 75th anniversary of the amphibious landing operation carried out by South Korean and U.S. forces during the 1950-53 Korean War, officials said.
The event, co-hosted by the Incheon city government, will take place at a port in Incheon to honor the fallen soldiers who participated in the operation, according to the Navy.
The Incheon Landing Operation was launched under the command of U.S. Gen. Douglas MacArthur in the namesake city in September 1950. The operation played a pivotal role in turning the tide of the war, repelling the invading North Korean troops.
Among key figures to attend the ceremony are Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Kang Dong-gil, U.S. Forces Korea Commander Gen. Xavier Brunson and Vice Veterans Minister Kang Yun-jin.
During the event, the Navy plans to mobilize a range of assets, including its AW-159 naval helicopters, UH-60 Black Hawk, MUH-1 Marineon helicopter and KAAV amphibious assault vehicles, to reenact part of the operation.
