Korea opens military quantum computing technology institute

The Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) on Tuesday opened an institute specialized in developing military quantum computing and sensing technology, the state-run procurement agency said.
The institute located in Daejeon, 164 kilometers south of Seoul, plans to develop quantum computing and sensing technologies for military applications and foster professionals in partnership with local universities over the next five years.
The Defense Acquisition Program Administration said the institute was established to develop its own quantum computing technology for the military's secure communications, which is banned from exports in the United States. (Yonhap)
