Unionized workers at Incheon International Airport decided Saturday to suspend their strike after 10 days of collective action, officials said.

The airport workers had been on a walkout since Oct. 1 to demand improvements in their working conditions but have chosen to return to work while continuing negotiations with management, according to the union officials.

"If our demands are not met even after intensive negotiations, we will launch an indefinite strike starting Oct. 25," the union warned.

Their demands include a more flexible shift system, better treatment for employees at subsidiary companies and stronger measures to prevent industrial accidents.

On Oct. 1, about 15,000 unionized workers from 15 airports nationwide, including the Incheon airport, began an indefinite strike. But workers at 14 airports suspended their walkouts last week ahead of the extended Chuseok holiday.
