Beer festival due in Sinchon

A beer fest will take place in Sinchon, western Seoul, this Thursday and Friday.

Seodaemun District Office said Monday that the festival, the second of its kind following one in October, will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday on the street between Yonsei University and Sinchon Station.

Actor Song Joong-ki, the model for event sponsor HiteJinro, will take part in an oak cask opening performance.

Participants will be served snacks, and they can have chicken, pizza or meat delivered from nearby restaurants.

Sections of the street will be decorated with sand so that people can get the beach experience right in Seoul.

“We hope the event can become a representative local festival, vitalizing the district and providing fun for tourists,” a district office official said.

Tickets are available on online shopping malls or can be purchased on the spot. The event may be delayed in case of rain.
