Police move on alleged casino sex services

The National Police Agency is cracking down on casinos and gambling houses that are allegedly providing illegal sexual services to clients.

The agency said Thursday it will work with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and local governments until November to stop the illegal services that mostly target foreign tourists.

A China Central Television (CCTV) program this week reported on the sex services in Korea that are being advertised in China. The program said 80 percent of gamblers on Jeju Island are Chinese who are often lured with the promise of free tour programs and prostitutes.

The program said one casino allegedly promised clients purchasing 18 million won (around $15,000) of chips a free “special” massage, while those purchasing 36 million won ($31,000) of chips would get an opportunity to sleep with an aspiring Korean actress or model. Those buying chips worth 90 million won ($80,000) would get to spend two nights and three days with them.

The Chinese media said police raided Korean casino offices in China in June and 13 Koreans and 34 Chinese recruiters were arrested for allegedly illegally luring gamblers in Beijing, Shanghai, Hebei and Jiangsu.
