Typhoon Halola approaches Korean Peninsula

Typhoon Halola is approaching southern waters of Korea, having citizens in the region brace for possible impacts.

The 12th typhoon this year is marching toward Japan and Korea at the speed of 15 kilometers per hour, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). Carrying the strength of “middle,” the typhoon is moving taward Jeju Island from waters about 220 kilometers east of Okinawa, a KMA official was quoted by a media report on Saturday as saying.

All southern waters off the peninsula will be affected by the typhoon starting early Sunday morning, the report added.

A U.S.-based weather forecaster, AccuWeather, was quoted by the report as saying the typhoon will end by early next week after causing impacts to the two nations.
