A university will hold a “sleep contest” Friday to provide rest to collegians fatigued from mid-term exams.
Duksung Women’s University will hold the event on its campus lawn Friday 2 p.m.
The contest will determine which contestant falls into the deepest sleep.
Participants will be provided blankets, sleep shades and pillows and will sleep on mats on the lawn.
After five minutes, a six-stage sleeping test will be conducted. Organizers will blow into participants’ faces or tell jokes to determine how fast they have fallen asleep.
Members of Love Recipe, a community on Facebook, have organized the event.
“We are suggesting that rather than go to clubs after mid-terms, students take naps to heal their mind and body,” they said.
The napping contest is the first of its kind in Korea, organizers said.
They accepted participants until Wednesday, 20-30 of whom will be selected to take part.
The winner will receive 50,000 won.
