Man arrested for calling prosecution dogs

A man has been arrested for comparing law enforcement authorities to dogs that are loyal to President Park Geun-hye.

According to police, the 42-year-old man, named Park Sung-soo, held a press conference in front of the Supreme Public Prosecutors’ Office in Seocho-dong, southern Seoul, Tuesday, during which he called the prosecution the President’s dogs.

While describing the prosecution’s ongoing probe into a bribery scandal involving the late Sung Woan-jong, Park Sung-soo mocked the prosecution by barking like a dog.

He was immediately detained.

Park has been under a separate investigation for scattering leaflets critical of the President and the ruling Saenuri Party.

On Feb. 21, the suspect spread dog food at the main gate of Suseong Police Station in Daegu, officers said.

President Park expressed regret, Tuesday, over her aides’ involvement in the scandal in a statement read by her top press secretary. In an apparent bid to turn the tide in the investigation, she called for a probe into the allegations that Sung bribed politicians to get presidential pardons under previous administrations.

A day after the President’s statement, the prosecution indicated that it will look into how Sung was able to get the pardons.
