Singer Son attempts suicide

Singer Son Ho-young was rushed to hospital Friday after what is believed to be a suicide attempt following the apparent suicide of his former girlfriend, whose body was found on Tuesday, police said.
Son is currently in a stable condition. According to the police, Son escaped from a burning car located in a central Seoul public parking lot around 4:40 a.m.
“We believe the blaze broke out when the fire from charcoal briquettes Son used to try to commit suicide inside his vehicle got bigger," a police officer said.
The body of his ex-girlfriend was found in Son’s car along with an empty bottle of sleeping pills, a used briquette and a suicide note. He attended her funeral on Thursday.
Police have tentatively concluded that she died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Debuting as a member of the popular boy band g.o.d. in 1999, the 33-year-old Son released a solo album in 2006. The singer recently worked as an actor on TV and appeared in musicals.
