North Korea wants Park to become president
A leader of an organization affiliated to North Korean interests have said North Korea would prefer for Park Geun-hye of the ruling Saenuri Party to become the next president of South Korea.
Park Sang-hak, president of Fighters for Free North Korea and a defector from the North, said interview with cable channel MBN last Wednesday that North Korea has strong interests in Park, the current candidate of the presidential election scheduled for Wednesday.
“The North Korean regime used to label Park Chung-hee as a dictator and an enemy of the people but is surprised to find his daughter running for president,” he said.
And Park said something that he heard from intelligence sources that was interesting. “From about a week ago, the North Korean authorities have been handing out directives to the media to not speak badly about Park or to talk about the fact that she is the daughter of Park Chung-hee.
He said the regime has been spreading talks about Park in the hopes that there will not be problems with Kim Jung-un, the grandson of North Korea founder Kim Il-sung, who took up controls in the North about a year ago after his father’s death.
