Jeju likely to get 5 degrees warmer by 2100: report
JEJU ISLAND (Yonhap) -- The southern resort island of Jeju is expected to get nearly five degrees warmer by the start of the 22nd century due to global warming, a report said Sunday.
The average temperature of Jeju Island for a decade until 2100 is forecast to be 19.0 degrees, according to the report released by the Jeju provincial government. The comparable figure for 2001-2010 was 14.1 degrees.
The spring seasons are expected to be 3.5 degrees warmer, summer 4.4 degrees warmer, fall 4.1 degrees warmer and winter 3.5 degrees warmer by 2010, the report said.
The average temperatures are expected to be 16.0 degrees in Jeju between 2011 and 2020, 16.3 degrees between 2021 and 2040, 17.0 degrees between 2051 and 2060, 18.1 degrees between 2061 and 2070, 18.4 degrees between 2071 and 2080, and 18.9 degrees between 2081 and 2090.
The island will likely get 148.4 millimeters less rain by 2100 than the current precipitation of 1787.0 mms.
