‘Chatting apps’ hotbed for prostitution

Social network services have emerged as hotbed for prostitution and the trafficking of obscene material, news reports said Sunday.

When a 22-year-old man, with an Android phone, logged on to the app market and typed in the search word “chatting,” a number of chatting applications (apps) appeared.

Most of the apps were defined as “random chatting,” “conditional random chatting” or “random chatting with strangers.”

The man, only identified by his surname Jung, began chatting with a 23-year-old woman. The app said she lived just 700 meters away from his house.

As Jung entered the conditional random chatting section, the woman asked, “How much?” This led to sex-for-money between Jung and the woman.

Jung said that at nighttime, most visitors preferred conditional random chatting, i.e., contacting prostitutes.

Meanwhile, as soon as a woman in her 20s posted a message, “I’m willing to serve as your lover as a part-time job,” the message was retweeted and spread on Twitter fast.

The woman’s ID remained undisclosed. But anyone who became her follower, can see all the messages she posted on Twitter. She has 971 followers.
