102 year-old recovers from cancer operation

A 102-year-old woman on Jeju Island is recuperating from successful colorectal cancer surgery, Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital said Sunday.
According to the hospital affiliated with the Catholic University of Korea, Moon Gwi-choon was discharged from the hospital last Saturday after undergoing an operation on Dec. 15 to remove tumors from her large intestine.
The hospital said it was the first time for a person aged over 100 to have cancer surgery in Korea. Moon visited the clinic two months ago after showing symptoms of indigestion and bloody excrement.
She was diagnosed with stage-2 colorectal cancer and underwent a six-hour surgery under general anesthesia. Doctors removed about 35 centimeters of her large intestine infected with cancerous tumors.
Previously, a 99-year-old British woman made headlines across the globe in September after undergoing a successful breast cancer operation.
