Man arrested on charges of sending women abroad for prostitution

Police said Thursday they arrested a-35-year-old man on charges of recruiting prostitutes and sending them overseas.

The prostitutes who have worked with him were also arrested without physical detention, the Seoul National Police Agency said.

The man recruited the women from 2008 to 2010 and sent them to New Zealand and Italy, which do not prohibit prostitution.

He reportedly collected illegal profits of about 130 million from them.

He and a co-worker asked the women to undergo breast surgery, a police officer said.

They also urged them to change their name because they would be denied entry into the countries with a record of prostitution, the officer said.
