Water park in Pyongyang crowded with young vacationers

A North Korean propaganda website “With us” has posted about 40 pictures, titled “Cool Summer.”

It is uncommon for North Korean media to release more than 40 pictures at once. Although details about the date and the subject are not mentioned, some experts expect that the website has uploaded the pictures this summer.

In these pictures, people enjoy swimming in a pool in Pyongyang. The pool, called “Mangyeongdae” is an outdoor swimming pool which has been recently renovated, equipped with various facilities for people to enjoy their leisure hours while swimming. It seems that there are little difference between Korean famous swimming pool “Caribbean Bay” or “Water Park,” with up-to-date facilities.

Many people from kids to adults enjoy swimming with tube or fight heat wave under parasols. Some people take pictures of their family or friends with digital cameras. One who sees these pictures can find out that they look very happy.

Given that the North Korea has been seeking food aid from the international society with the year 2012 as target of becoming a powerful military power, it is a little bit strange that it has posted these pictures on up-to-date amusement facilities .
