For some, the right to vote in the election may be the last time they are able to exercise their democratic rights and they didn't want to miss it.
Ki Gil-su from Gwangju is celebrating his centennial birthday in September. Both Ki and his neighbor Oh Buk-sil, 96, said, "I didn't want to miss the election, and would like to take part in the next local election."
Shin Suk-nyeo, 101, from Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province came to a polling station as soon as it opened at 6 a.m., assisted by her 81-year-old son and his wife.
She said, "I thought this could be my last chance to participate in an election."
