Rude girl apologizes to cleaning lady

A female Kyung Hee University student, who created an online stir after swearing at an elderly cleaning lady, has apologized to the woman, according to the Kyung Hee University student council, Friday.

“The student apologized after paying a visit to the cleaning lady,” the council said in a statement. “The student is repenting a lot and is not coming to school because she is afraid and upset.”

The student’s mother also apologized to the cleaner separately, the council confirmed.

The cleaning lady’s daughter also posted a writing calling for Internet users to stop paying attention to the incident.

“My mother accepted the student’s apology and that’s what she wanted. So, we would like to put an end to it,” the daughter said.

On May 13, the student, now nicknamed “paeryun-nyeo” or “rude girl,” cursed at the cleaning lady who is her mother’s age during an argument over throwing away a milk carton.

A posting by the cleaner’s daughter, describing how her mother was humiliated, and an audio file, made by an unknown person, publicized the argument between the two and rapidly spread over the Internet angering numerous people.

'패륜녀' 사과

경희대학교는 금요일 미화부에게 욕설을 한 여학생이 사건당사자에게 사과했다고 밝혔다.

경희대 총학생회는 "여학생이 미화부를 찾아 사과했다"며 "그 학우가 잘못을 뉘우치고 있고 두려움과 괴로움에 학교에 나오지 않고 있다" 고 전했다.

학교 측은 여학생을 기준에 따라 처벌 할 것이며 아직 징계수위는 정해지지 않았다고 학생회에 통보했다.

가해 학생은 지난 3월 13일 환경미화부와 우유팩을 버리는 문제로 다퉈 '패륜녀'로 불렸다.
