Hwang Named Chief Tech Officer

Hwang Chang-gyu, a former chief of Samsung Electronics’ semiconductor business, has been selected as chief technology officer (CTO) in charge of national research and development, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy said Wednesday.

“Hwang, nicknamed ‘Mr. Chip,’ is the right person to assume the post as he played a key role in helping the country become leader in the field of semiconductors,” a ministry official said.

He will take office next month, he added.
