DP Post Holders Tender Resignations

Key post holders in the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) tendered their resignations to Chairman Chung Sye-kyun, Thursday.
Party insiders say the key post holders, who have served since Chung took over the chairmanship a year ago, decided to resign to pave the way for the DP leader to revamp the party during his second year in office. Chung has yet to respond.
Those who expressed an intention to step down include Secretary-General Lee Mi-kyung and chief policymaker Park Byeong-seug.
Earlier this week, 84 DP lawmakers including Chung tendered their resignations to quit National Assembly seats to Speaker Kim Hyong-o in protest at the governing Grand National Party passage of disputed bills which will reshape the media industry.
Speaker Kim has said he would not accept their resignations.
