A son of Prime Minister Han Seung-soo engaged in illegal stock deal with a Seoul-based petrochemical company, the main opposition Democratic Party alleged Monday.

But Prime Minister Han denied the allegation. ``I have no information regarding the assets of my son,'' he said in a statement.

``We acquired evidence that Han's son and wife bought stocks worth 2 billion won from OCI in December 2007 through an anonymous source,'' Rep. Kim Yoo-jung, spokeswoman of the party, said.

The allegation comes at a time when OCI ― formerly known as DC Chemical and Korea Steel Petrochemical ― and Kim Jae-ho, CEO of the Donga Ilbo newspaper have been accused of engaging in insider stock trading.

The DP urged the authorities to look into the case.

It also questioned how the son could have acquired such a large sum of money when he was a student at the time of the stock deal.
