Incheon Airport Sees Drop in Users

The number of visitors to Incheon International Airport has fallen for the first time in six years.
According to the Incheon International Airport Corporation, 13.6 million used the airport terminal to take international and domestic flights from January to June ― a 12.3 percentage point drop from 15.5 million during the same period last year.
The fall is due to the worldwide financial trouble and the new type-A influenza.
The number of Korean travelers overseas declined to 5.3 million during the period, down about 33 percent from the same period last year.
The corporation expects the number of passengers to decrease some 20 percent in the summer peak season.
Meanwhile, the number of transfer passengers has increased steadily since 2005 and marked 2.5 million in the first half.
