Music Video Producers Fined for Plagiarism

A major entertainment agency and two of its producers have been fined for plagiarism.
The Seoul Central District Court ruled Friday that Fantom Entertainment Group must pay compensation of 10 million won for plagiarizing several scenes from the famous Japanese computer game ``Final Fantasy 7'' to produce a music video for K-pop star Ivy.
The company's two producers, in charge of producing the music album and video, were also fined six million won each.
``It is clear that about 80 percent of the game's contents, such as the story line, background and costume, had been reproduced, violating intellectual property rights,'' the presiding judge said.
