A Korean woman has been found dead in Cape Town, the legislative capital of South Africa.

The Korean Embassy there announced Monday that the woman, identified as Ju Yon-suk, 32, was found dead at her home on Nov. 30.

A friend had discovered Ju's body on the floor of a bedroom with her hands and feet tied with a rope, but could not say whether there were any wounds on the body because of its decomposed state, an embassy official quoted the police here as saying.

Her computer and cell phone were missing but her stolen car was found the same day about 20 minute-walk away from her Park Road, Park Estate home, the police were quoted as saying.

She arrived in Cape Town last March to learn English and had recently bought a house.

The embassy dispatched a consul to the scene, calling on police to thoroughly investigate the case.

The government is considering performing an autopsy on her body to verify the cause of her death. It is also talking with the bereaved family about them traveling to South Africa.

The official said that Ju's family in Korea were contacted and told what had happened.

"They are very shocked. I think they will come down to Cape Town but I'm not sure," the official said.
