Police University to Reduce Student Quota

The Korea National Police University is considering cutting the number of applicants it accepts and introducing a graduate school program.
Its move to cut the student quota is based on results of a study by the Korea Institute of Public Administration on reform of the university's operations.
According to the agency, the school reviewed the plan to cut the freshman quota from the current 120 to 80. Research into establishing a graduate school is also underway.
This move is designed to improve its education program and strengthen student competitiveness.
Once the graduate school is established, students who complete the graduate program will have more opportunities to be promoted.
Founded in 1981, the university has a total of 2,640 graduates. Most high ranked police officers, including Lee Taek-soon, head of the National Police Agency, graduated from the university.
