Roh Positive About Economy

President Roh Moo-hyun expressed his positive views on the present and future condition of the economy Friday, citing indices such as GDP growth rate, exports, production and consumption.
In his message to mark the Chuseok holiday, the Korean version of Thanksgiving Day, Roh said: ``The economic indices are improving remarkably.''
He said the government is pushing ahead with policies on living conditions to make people really feel the economy is better on the basis of the improved data.
``As the government has been faithful to principles without seeking policies to boost the economy, the recent recovery will continue for a long period,'' Roh said.
In response to criticism that low-income earners are still suffering difficulties despite the economic turnaround, he promised to focus on social welfare.
Roh also put emphasis on social cooperation and equality. ``We have succeeded in competition. Now it is time to cooperate with each other to make Korea great.''
He wished Koreans residing overseas, North Koreans and foreign residents here a happy Chuseok holiday.
