Residents Overwhelmingly Reject Proposed Construction of Naval Base

Residents voted overwhelmingly on Monday to reject proposed construction of naval base at a village on Jeju Island.

The referendum, held at the Gang Jeong village hall, showed that 93.8 percent of the residents oppose the Navy's plan to turn the fishing village into a major military installation.
