Asiana Airlines said Sunday that the British transport research company Skytrax had awarded it five stars for its services.
The label of ``five-star airline’’ is awarded to airlines with the highest quality performance, and in Asia only Cathay Pacific, Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines have been listed in the group so far.
Since 2000, Skytrax has been evaluating customer service and product quality in more than 600 categories for the world's 450 airlines and rating them from one to five stars.
``Asiana Airlines has shown itself to be a very consistent, high-quality performer across all areas of service delivery to customers, and now that they are delivering their new, upgraded product standards on a fairly wide basis,’’ Skytrax CEO Edward Pleisted said.
``Our congratulations go to the management and staff of Asiana Airlines for achieving what is regarded as the highest quality accolade and recognition an airline can gain. It is now their challenge to both maintain and develop their service quality that this 5-Star ranking is recognizing’’ Pleisted added.
