Summer weather could begin next month and a rainy spell is expected to start in late June, according to a state-run weather agency Tuesday.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said yesterday that hot summer weather is expected to hit the nation earlier than last year and southern regions will see temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius beginning next month.

Temperatures in June and July will be similar to those of the same period last year.

``There will be large rainfall one or two times in mid-May. But in general, the weather next month will be clean and dry. Although the temperature in general will be higher than last year, people should take caution in managing their health since the daily temperature range will be great,'' said a weather agency official.
