President Roh Moo-hyun is to replace four Cabinet ministers today, including the minister of maritime affairs and fisheries and the minister of culture and tourism, according to Chong Wa Dae Wednesday.

``We will have a meeting of the personnel affairs screening committee on Thursday. I think we can make public the list of new ministerial nominees after the meeting,’’ a senior Chong Wa Dae official said.

Sources at the presidential office said Kim Jong-min, CEO of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), and Hwang Chi-woo, a famous poet and president of the Korean National University of Art, are the two candidates to become the minister of culture and tourism.

Former Vice Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Kang Moo-hyun and Korea District Heating Corp. CEO Kim Young-nam are competing for the top post of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

Roh will also replace a couple of other minister-level officials, including Minister of Government Legislation Kim Sun-uk and Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Park Yu-chul, the sources said.

Vice Minister of Government Legislation Nam Ki-myoung is likely to be promoted as the minister, while Park Sang-chul, head of the Politics School at Kyonggi University, is also considered as a candidate.

Kim Jung-bok, vice minister of patriots and veterans affairs, and Lyo Ik-koo, a former auditor of Korea South East Power, are the two candidates for minister of patriots and veterans affairs, they said.
