Time to stop blaming government, crew - The Korea Times

Time to stop blaming government, crew

The whole country has blood on its hands and is responsible for the ferry disaster. People need to stop blaming the government and the Sewol crew and instead concentrate their efforts on eradicating the ills that plague Korean society: corruption, bribery, lax moral standards and reckless disregard for public safety, just to name a few.

As of May 17, the death toll stood at 286. Eighteen remain missing. We cannot let these deaths be in vain. We owe it to these victims (and their families) to fix our broken society. Change comes from the bottom up. Instead of holding protests against the government, we must work together to identify and eliminate deeply rooted evils. This is not a “them” versus “us.” We are all united by a common cause.
