The cooling weather has brought winds of change to Korea’s latest hair trends. Full-fringe bangs are back in style as people no longer need to worry about beads of sweat collecting on their foreheads with the recent drop in temperatures.

Full-fringe bangs have been especially popular recently among Korea’s biggest K-pop stars. While straight, bang-free hair sported by NewJeans was the preferred style of choice for many people between last year and early this year, Ive’s Jang Won-young and Aespa’s Karina, have fueled a resurgence of full-fringe bangs this fall and winter season.

Jang in particular sought to revamp her image for Ive’s recent comeback by sporting a delicate, wispy bang. It was a radical departure from the sleek, straight hairstyle she had maintained previously with an exposed forehead. Jang’s transformation earned plaudits from her fans, striking a delicate balance between cute and hipster.

Jang has showcased many versatile looks around her bangs, including high buns, half-up waves and others, demonstrating the many styling possibilities of full-fringe bangs for those looking to emulate her.

Bangs that cover the eyebrows, like the ones preferred by Jang, have the effect of accentuating facial features, creating a stronger impression and making you look younger when the forehead is covered. With wispy bangs that have been trending recently, the forehead is partially visible to add a more natural feeling.

Aespa’s Karina, Le Sserafim’s Kim Chae-won and Kiss of Life’s Natty have also transitioned to full-fringe bangs recently.

To create soft, wispy bangs that look natural and hip, it’s important to give them very little volume instead of applying excessive C-curls so that they hang straight down naturally. If you want to protect your bangs against the wind and maintain their volume, you can use a natural matte hairspray to help fix them in place.
