Stunt actor William Spencer from Los Angeles starred in the “Two Bellmen” series, which JW Marriott International made to promote its hotel chains around the world.
The third installment in the series, shot in Seoul, was released on Jan. 19 on YouTube and other platforms, and Spencer visited Seoul for a special premier at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul.
Besides Spencer, who plays bellman Gage, the movie features stunt actor Caine Sinclair, who plays a second bellman, Christian, and K-pop stars Jessica Jung and Lee Ki-hong who play a couple.
“Two Bellmen Three” showcases the hotel’s luxurious atmosphere and the beauty of Dongdaemun, Seoul, a tourist area where the hotel is located.
“There’s no necessity to over show (the hotel) for a commercial. Just being there is a commercial,” Spencer said as to how impressed he was by how the hotel looks. But Spencer wanted the viewers to learn something deeper about the hotel brand. “As a brand, it shows that they (JW Marriott) are open-minded.”
No other hotel has done a big project. And during the shooting last year, JW Marriott Dongdaemun provided logistics and other support to the film crew.
The movie tells two seemingly different stories that are woven nicely together. A couple, played by Jung and Lee, are about to get married and are trying to curry favor with the bride’s parents, who are not happy with the groom.
Meanwhile, two bellmen are struggling to win a tough bellman competition.
The film showcases Spencer’s amazing stunts, including walking on a tightrope and hanging from a ceiling while holding a baggage.
The two previous films in the series were shot in Los Angeles and Dubai. According to David Beebe, JW Marriott International’s vice president for creative and content marketing, the third one aims at prospective Chinese guests who are enamored with Korean pop culture.
Spencer’s stunt acting career stems from his passion for skateboarding and storytelling. Originally from Colorado, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue for his dream.
He has been in blockbuster movies, such as “The Amazing Spider-Man,” “The Amazing Spider-man 2” and “Project X.” He also directed a short film, “Block Attack, which “blends stunts, comedy and 1980’s video game nostalgia,” according to entertainment website IMDb(www.imdb.com).
Spencer said he felt blessed for being able to do what he wants to do. “Acting is a tool for me to tell the story I want to tell. I am in love with what it can give as far as telling something more meaningful.”
