A new Marriott property is opening next week in Namdaemun, Seoul.
The Courtyard Marriott Namdaemun Seoul is part of Marriott International’s latest efforts to expand in the South Korean market and is its third Courtyard property in country.
Its other two properties are in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul and Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province, south of Seoul.
Marriott is expected to become the world’s biggest hotel chain after buying Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide. Once the acquisition is finalized, Marriott will have more than 5,700 properties around the world.
Marriott has 19 hotel brands, which caters to business travelers, and Courtyard is one of its mid-tier brands. Seoul has been a popular site for expansion among business hotels, as the city, with its many tourist destinations and entertainment, attracts many business travelers. Both the central and city governments have been developing the city to better accommodate business travelers.
And the new hotel could not have a better location. The old city center, Namdaemun which is now known for its big traditional market, is a coveted location among hotel developers. It is a walking distance to all major tourist destinations in the city ― including Deoksu Palace, Myeong-dong, Namdaemun Market and N Seoul Tower.
Courtyard Marriott Namdaemun Seoul has 409 rooms.
It is also adjacent to public transportation, especially the subway, which can easily and quickly connect people to places.
Each of Courtyard Marriott Namdaemun Seoul’s 409 rooms is outfitted with a 49-inch LED TV, free Wi-Fi, comfortable beds, air-conditioning and other amenities. Some rooms have a glass window without partition, giving guests a full view of N Seoul Tower,
Namdaemun Suite, located on the 19th floor, has a terrace that can also be rented to non-hotel guests looking for a venue. The Executive Lounge is available for guests on the top floor, or the Executive floor. The lounge provides guests with free breakfast, snacks and free meeting spaces.
Marriott Courtyard Seoul Namdaemun’s signature restaurant, Momo Café, serves a variety of Asian and Western dishes in its buffet, as well as wine and cocktails at its bar. The restaurant also has private spaces for guests who are looking for an intimate venue, such as for celebration with family and friends.
The business hotel also has five multi-purpose meeting rooms with a capacity of 150 persons. The meeting rooms are also available for birthday parties and weddings.
To celebrate its opening, the hotel is offering a special promotion until Aug. 31.
The Grand Opening package includes a one-night stay, breakfast for two and late check out at 3 p.m. All guests are given a chance to win prizes, including free accommodation at the hotel and other Courtyard Marriott outside Korea, buffet dinner for two at Momo Café and a one-year membership at the hotel’s gym.
