Jin Air, one of the nation’s low-cost carriers, has launched a web-based drama, “Mr. Park Is on Vacation,” to promote travel to Southeast Asian countries.

The carrier is the first to produce a web drama for a campaign. The no-frills carrier affiliated with Korean Air said it launched the drama on Naver TV Cast on Wednesday.

The drama revolves around Park Sang-moo, an office worker who abruptly goes on a business trip to Southeast Asian countries and experiences each country’s culture.

Actor Yoon Jong-hoon, who starred in the 2014 hit cable drama “Misaeng,” plays the role of Park, while actress Lee Chae-won takes the role of Jin Air flight attendant Hwang Geum-bit.

The carrier said along with the drama, it will disseminate information about the drama’s shooting locations, such as famous restaurants and other tourist attractions.

“The web drama has become a representative cultural genre that can be enjoyed during a short period of time and that can be relatable to customers,” an official of the company said.

“The drama is designed to encourage people to travels. Through the drama, Jin Air, which operates the largest number of flights to Southeast Asian countries among the local budget carriers, will give more flight and travel information,” he said.

The five-episode series airs at 6 p.m. every Wednesday and is available at instagram.com/sangmu official and instagram.com/first.holidays.

The carrier will also release a version with English subtitles on youtube.com/JinAir0717 within this month.
