Korea Times-AMCHAM forum to discuss strategic Korea-US partnership

The Korea Times and the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) will jointly host a forum titled “Strategic Proposals for the Korea-U.S. Partnership” on Tuesday. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Grand Ballroom of the Fairmont Ambassador Seoul.
The recent inauguration of Korea’s new government presents an opportunity to redefine the country’s economic vision and strategy for the next decade, with a focus on innovation, sustainability and global cooperation.

The forum will address the complex challenges facing the new administration of Lee Jae Myung, including adapting to global supply chain restructuring, navigating U.S. industrial subsidy policies, responding to rising protectionism, managing geopolitical risks and accelerating the energy transition.
Featuring key figures from the new government alongside leading experts, the forum will generate policy recommendations and encourage dialogue to advance the strategic partnership between Korea and the U.S.
The opening speeches will be delivered by the hosts, Korea Times Chairman Seung Myung-ho and AMCHAM Korea Chairman James Kim.
President Lee will send a congratulatory message, which will be read by a senior official from the presidential office.

Additionally, Reps. Kwon Chil-seung and Lee Un-ju of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea will deliver congratulatory speeches.
Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy will also deliver a special address.
The first session will navigate future-proofing economic partnership between the two nations and deal with pressing issues such as tariffs, tech and security. The panelists include former White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, GM Asia Pacific President and Managing Director Hector Villarreal, The GR Company founder and CEO Jakob Edberg and Kim Moo-hwan, executive vice president of the Energy Solution Business Division at SK Innovation.
The second session, moderated by KAIST professor Kim Joung-ho, will discuss Korea’s business transformation for future growth, with LG AI Research product unit leader Jeon Ki-jeong, Wrtn Technologies co-founder Kim Tae-ho and Deloitte Consulting Korea Executive Director Jung Chang-mo.
