Professor Ryu Kwon-ha elected as chair of KAVKAS

The Korean Alumni Association of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAVKAS), announced that it has appointed Prof. Ryu Kwon-ha, 62, from the Department of Media and Communication Studies at Jeonbuk National University as its next president. His term will be for two years, starting in 2024.
Prof. Ryu earned his Ph.D. in German Studies from the University of Wuppertal in Germany and has been teaching at Jeonbuk National University since 2022. He has also served as a journalist for the JoongAng Ilbo, as a correspondent in Berlin, CEO of the Korea JoongAng Daily and chairman of the Foreign Language Newspaper Association of Korea.
KAVKAS is an organization composed of scholars who have obtained their doctoral degrees with scholarships from the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in Germany. KAVKAS conducts research in various fields, including education, welfare, labor and policy, with a focus on Germany and Europe.
