SCMP, Korea Times sign agreement

The Korea Times signed an agreement with the South China Morning Post, Tuesday, to share articles and strengthen cooperation.
In the signing ceremony at The Korea Times office, central Seoul, Morning Post Chief Executive Officer Robin Hu emphasized the importance of the partnership with The Korea Times. “It’s very important to establish pan-Asia coverage, considering the rise of China and Asia,” Hu said.
“We feel it’s important to have partnership with other media, and the partnership with The Korea Times is timely.”
The Hong Kong-based daily newspaper has a 114-year history. Based on its reputation as a paper of record in Hong Kong, it has become a major international media player by expanding distribution through social network services.
The Morning Post attracts online traffic from various regions, not only China. Hu said 60 percent of online traffic is from foreign countries. “The largest portion is from the United States, and the third largest is from the United Kingdom. The fourth is Singapore.”
Hu also introduced the paper’s smartphone application, which has a separate section for The Korea Times’ articles. “It’s free, and provides updates throughout the day,” he said. The application is available for Android, Apple and any kinds of tablet.
Korea Times President-Publisher Lee Chang-sup expressed his expectations for future cooperation. “We hope to have cooperation in surveys and article exchanges, as well as sharing editorial knowhow,” Lee said.
Hu will deliver a keynote speech in the China Forum 2016, co-hosted by The Korea Times and its sister paper, the Hankook Ilbo, at the Shilla Hotel, Seoul, today.
