Top Korean actress Lee Young-ae has donated $50,000 to a Korean international aid agency to be used for relief work for victims of the recent earthquake in Ecuador, reports said.
Lee donated the cash to the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to help victims stricken by the magnitude-7.8 earthquake on April 16 that has left more than hundreds dead.
Lee, 45, a top star and mother of a twin is well-known for the phenomenally popular Korean drama “Jewel in the Palace” (2003). But she has recently been active in charity works as well. Last year, Lee donated 50 million won to support the two Korean soldiers injured in the Aug. 4 blast in the Demilitarized Zone. In 2014, she funded treatment of a premature Taiwanese baby, donated to schools in Harbin, China in 2007 and also to a school in Zeijiang Province, China in 2006.
She is currently filming for an upcoming Korean drama “Saimdang, Herstory,” starring opposite top Korean actor Song Seung-heon. The drama will air in the second half of the year.
