EF Education First will provide educational content about the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics starting next March in cooperation with the Olympics organizing committee.

Christopher McCormick, senior vice president of the international education company, signed an education sponsor agreement with Cho Yang-ho, president of the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games, at the Korea Press Center in Seoul, Thursday.

Under the accord, the Switzerland-headquartered EF becomes an official education sponsor of the Winter Olympics to offer exclusive education services for the Olympic Games.

“EF will base [its services] on the experiences we accumulated by sponsoring Olympics as well as our educational expertise in order to spread the Olympics movement to Korean students and teachers and exert efforts to enhance participation and recognition of the Olympics,” McCormick said.

“We will produce content for about 15 events of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, six events of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Paralympics and general topics of the Olympics, including the Olympic spirit and careers in sports,” said Yoon Seon-joo, country manager of EF Korea.

All contents are designed for elementary, middle, high school and university students as well as teachers nationwide and will be delivered in videos, online lectures and teaching materials made available on the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics education portal website which is set to launch in March 2016.

“The content will be provided in both Korean and English so that Koreans as well as people around the world can get easy access,” Yoon added.

EF, established in 1965, is one of the world’s largest private education companies specializing in English language training.

The company set up its Korean branch, EF Korea, after being selected as the official foreign language education institution for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. It provides advanced foreign language education training and career opportunities for students in Korea.
