Child actress Lee Re was named best supporting actress at the Beijing International Film Festival.
Lee was the only Korean actress to be conferred an award at the festival, but was unable to attend.
Lee played the role of a child rape victim in the 2013 film “Hope,” directed by Lee Joon-ik. Actors Sul Kyung-ku and Um Ji-won starred in the film as Lee’s father and mother.
The best actress award went to Zhang Ziyi.
The 8-year-old will soon appear in a film titled “The Perfect Way to Steal a Dog,” which was set to start production this month. She will star alongside veteran actress Kim Hae-ja.
