Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) nominated Ha Sung-yong as its new CEO at its board meeting, the company said Friday.

KAI said its board of directors recommended Ha Thursday for the top post. He will replace current CEO Kim Hong-kyung, who tendered his resignation in late April.

Ha will take office once his nomination is approved at a shareholders’ meeting slated for May 20.

Ha was formal head of Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering. He joined Daewoo Group in 1977. He moved to KAI in 1999 and later served as vice president of KAI before taking the helm of Sungdong in 2011.
