Tablo to make Nov. comeback with YG

By Kwon Mee-yoo

Hip-hop singer Tablo’s new solo album will be released Nov. 1.

The performer, also known as Lee Seon-Woong, signed a contract with YG Entertainment for four years. YG also manages his wife, actress Kang Hye-jung, and she introduced Tablo to Yang Hyun-suk, CEO of the entertainment agency known for hip-hop musicians.

He graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor's degree in English Literature and master's degree in creative writing and made his debut on the Korean indie music scene as a member of hip-hop group Epik High in 2003.

Tablo was falsely accused of fabricating his academic record and pretending to be a graduate of the prestigious university. The argument lasted for months until the police confirmed he graduated from Stanford.

Though he signed a contract with YG, he will continue working with Epik High. However, one member Mithra Jin is serving his mandatory military duty, scheduled to finish around next May, so the group will return to the music scene after he is discharged.
