KIPA builds ties with Belarus unit

The Korea Institute of Public Administration (KIPA) and the Belarusian Academy of Public Administration agreed Monday to promote cooperation in educating civil servants between the two countries.

The agreement to that effect was reached between Park Eung-kyuk, KIPA president, and the Belarusin Ambassador to Korea Aleksandr Guryanov during the latter's courtesy call at Park's office.

As a way to translate their agreement into action, both sides agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on strengthening cooperation in public administration in the near future.

KIPA, a state-run think tank under the Prime Minister's Office, and the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus, are similar in their functions in that their business is focused on promoting the quality of public administration.

The MOU covers a wide spectrum of areas ranging from conducting scientific research on public administration to innovating activities in the sphere of theory and practice on administrative skills through holding international seminars and educational events.

Last May, Professor Igor Hancharonak, vice chancellor of the Academy of Public Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, visited Korea to discuss the conclusion of an MOU between the two academic institutes.
