Chung Myung-whun’s Son to Debut as Conductor
The youngest son of Korea's leading maestro Chung Myung-whun will debut as conductor in August, following his father's footsteps.
Chung Min, 23, will lead an orchestra from Boystown, a Catholic welfare facility for juveniles in Busan, who will perform numbers including Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. Father Chung Myung-whun will likely participate as pianist in Beethoven's Triple Concerto for piano, violin and cello.
Chung Min, who is studying violin at the music college of the prestigious Seoul National University, has reportedly received private conducting lessons from his father. He is currently practicing with the Boystown orchestra, rehearsing in closed-door performances.
Profits from the August concert will be donated to Boystown.
Chung Myung-whun has three sons: the first, 27 years old, studied fine arts, while the second, 25 years old, is active as a jazz guitarist.
