(373) Saju: Predictability of disasters through Saju calculation system
By Janet Shin
I have received several mails from my overseas friends who practice fortune telling, such as feng shui, asking me about saju feedback on the frequent fires lately. It was when there were recurrent huge fires in California.
I can provide my response with the perspectives below. The fundamental grounds for this prediction is by the historical reason why and how saju was formed in ancient society. The history of science in Asian culture originated from divination, which was conducted to predict human affairs by reading the movements of Heaven and Earth, namely the Way of the Universe. It was caused by human fear of natural phenomena such as earthquakes, eclipses and unanticipated incidents like fires and wars. This deed involved systematic cognition over nature and developed into a science including mathematics, physics and other various natural sciences like astrometeorology, geography and biology. Ancient people tried desperately to figure out the cause of natural disasters so as to predict the future.
The initial category they created was yin and yang and the five elements, and then they systematized the critical numbers as 10 heavenly and 12 earthly signs. These became the binary, decimal, duodecimal and sexagesimal systems which was established by the combination of 10 heavenly stems and 12 earthly branches devided by the yin and yang.
Although they are complicated and difficult, this numerological system is applied to every year, month, day and hour to guide human destiny, national affairs and even the cosmic climate across time and space.
Based on this logic, every year has a certain tendency for weather. Longer summers, serious floods or higher possibility of earthquake and so on are part of its predictions.
The previous year, 2017, was the year of the red rooster, a combination of fire in the heavenly stem and metal in the earthly branch. This combination generates the energy of fire that is called ‘great fire under mountain.’
If we analyze individual energy of sexagenary years, the heaven and earth letter combination for each year sheds a certain characteristic energy. For example, among the 60 combinations, five have fire energy, but not all of them are the same. In other words, the 5 five combinations do not always create fire calamity. Some may represent the warmth of spring, others thermal spring which even contains abundant water. Some may even portray a candle flickering in the wind. On the other hand, the fire energy of 2017 was like bursting flames burning mountains and whole nature.
The other instance was 2001 when the tragic September 11 attacks were predicted by this sexagenary year analysis. 2001 was the year of snake fire combined with metal element in heavenly stem. It depicted a burning skyscraper because the fire energy was melting metallic objects. A similar forecast can be done by reading the sexagenary combinations, as the same are repeated on a 60-year cycle and some intriguing interpretations can also be done by evaluating the five elements’ interactions. Sixty years before 2001 was 1941. It was when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor.
By this way, systematic saju predictions are made for cosmic movements, abnormal climate and even apocalypse by the binary, decimal, duodecimal and sexagesimal scales.
