The 58th U.S. presidential election is scheduled for Nov. 8 this year. The two major parties, Democratic and Republican, have finalized their candidates after a long-haul primary process ― Hillary Clinton for the Democrats and Donald Trump for the Republicans. Although they do not share such notable similarities with each other, every move of the flamboyant Trump has drawn public attention, while Hillary, the former first lady, who has firmly built her competency as a politician by serving as secretary of state has maintained a steady approval rating.

Then how about their saju?

They are already distinguished public figures, not only for their political appointments but for their life stories. Interestingly, their saju have already been either mentioned or read in some of the bygone saju columns. Even if their saju have never been correlated together, some intriguing facts are found once compared.

First of all, their saju are characterized as a structure of knowledge star and that of an earth day master. In analyzing the saju of historic and current political, economic and social leaders of world, I have noticed a certain inclination in their saju. When it comes to the saju of political figures, there has been an emergence of the earth day masters. Barack Obama and Park Geun-hye, current presidents of the U.S and Korea respectively, and Lula da Silva and Nicolas Sarkozy, the former presidents of Brazil and France respectively, have their saju in common in that they all have earth day masters. After reading the saju of the current G20 in comparison to those of historic politicians, we would understand that a certain leadership, categorized by the five elements, corresponds to the demands of the time. For instance dictatorial authority was more prevalent in times of war or warlike situations when absolute power was required, which is represented by the metal day master. For instance, the saju of Park Chung-hee, the former president of Korea who led great economic growth, Hyundai Group founder Chung Ju-yung, Admiral Yi Sun-shin, the most respected naval commander in Korean history, Kim Jong-il, the former leader of North Korea, Muammar Gaddafi, the former Libyan leader, and so on all have the same element as their day masters: metal.

Anyway, it is interesting to see that the day masters of the current presidents and two candidates of the forthcoming U.S. presidential election are all earth. Earth balances the five elements: wood, fire, metal, water and earth itself. Among them, earth is the most harmonious and actually contains all five elements within it. Earth can be described as land, field or ground that incorporates various ingredients and the nurtures of the other materials or living creatures in the universe.

Furthermore, the saju of Trump and Hillary Clinton have certain strengths with an abundant support of friend stars (same energy as the earth day master) and knowledge stars, fire energy. The knowledge star implies learning, contracts and respect of people. It is generally described as with a relaxed and calm manner and honor-oriented attitude, but when it is mis-positioned, the person can become selfish and self-willed.

Much to our interest, the saju of Barack Obama also has a strong knowledge star. Among the three, that of Trump is the most heated and moistureless, which can lead to assertive and ruthless behavior and a refusal to listen to others.

This year, the year of Byeong-shin, the earthly branch energy, metal would play a positive role to promote fortune for Hillary Clinton while this metal is melted by the fire of Trump. In the meantime, this metal element clashes with Hillary’s career star (wood in day branch) that involves bothersome incidents to hinder her cinching success. The metal element represents people’s support.

It can’t be emphasized enough that there is no saju of “just good or just bad.” Our lives cannot be categorized as either fortunate or unfortunate. Every life has its peaks and valleys throughout the process. Hillary Clinton had lost her nomination to Barack Obama in running for the 2008 presidential election. It was a time when she had to yield and wait according to her saju flow. Now that eight years have passed, she is living in different and improved phases compared to before. By reading saju, we get to know when the right time is or when it is not, and when to wait or when to challenge.
