With the year coming to an end, it’s time to add some sparklevto your wardrobe. But adding sparkle isn’t about how muchvbling you can display. It’s more about finding an interestingvlook that reflects your personal style. Stylist Jeong Yun-kee and W give some tips for how to end the year fashionably.
Inspiring looks: 50s romanticism, fairytale
This winter sees a comeback of the 50s, which was all about femininity and romance, as exemplified by the gamine Audrey Hepburn and elegant Grace Kelly. Jeong suggests opting for a ladylike dress, such as an A-line dress or one in a romantic print. Alexander McQueen’s black and white rosebud-print dress is a great choice for this look.
For a bolder look, get inspiration from your favorite fairytales – this winter’s collections certainly do. Dolce & Gabbana’s Enchanted Sicily collection offers a number of dresses that will help you achieve a stunningly magical look, while Giorgio Armani offers elegant Elsa-inspired gowns for more formal evening events.
Trendy textiles, patterns: Silk velvet, baroque prints
Silk velvet, which was popular in the 60s, is back in vogue. In moderate to dark colors, the textile is an attention grabber for a night out on the town. Final advice: Don’t go overboard
The year-end look is about keeping things classy. Opt for neutral colors such as brown, gray and black, and finish your look with a herringbone coat or any simple overcoat, such as one from Proenza Schouler’s fall/winter collection.
