Wolfgang’s Steakhouse to land in Seoul
New York’s top steakhouse is making inroads into Seoul. Wolfgang’s Steakhouse Korea is set to open in Cheongdam-dong in December. The restaurant was founded by Wolfgang Zwiener who served as head waiter at New York’s renowned Peter Luger Steakhouse for some 40 years. Wolfgang's Steakhouse uses USDA Prime Grade Black Angus beef that is dry aged for 28 days. The branch is the second to open in Asia and outside of the U.S. after one that opened in Tokyo earlier this year.
Gucci introduces pop-up café
Italian luxury brand Gucci has opened a café at Hyundai Department Store’s Trade Center branch in Samseong-dong, southern Seoul. The “Gucci Café” is a pop-up store that previously opened in major fashion capitals such as Milan, Florence and Tokyo. A noted feature is its use of “hanji,” traditional Korean paper handmade from mulberry trees, in its interior. A limited edition of chocolates will be available at the store upon reservation. The pop-up will run through Nov. 16.
Mary Kay releases
“Midnight Jewel Collection” Global cosmetic brand Mary Kay released its makeup collection for the fall season. The “Midnight Jewels Collection” emphasizes elegance as an overall theme. The two types of “eye color palette” which has pearl elements, is soft to wear and easy to blend. There are five spectrums of colors ranging from emerald to sapphire. The “lip shimmer” line isn’t sticky and is easy to layer over other colored lip products. The “nail lockers” can finish up the autumn look. The lockers are offered in four colors including “night diamond” and “pearl rose.”
Everland opens glamping site
Amusement park Everland has incorporated a glamping site on its grounds. “Glamping Hill” enables guests to relax at its cabanas and enjoy rides and parades as well as the zoo in proximity. There are nine cabanas that feature heating and cooling fans, refrigerators, portable speakers and tablet PCs. Valet parking and a priority passes for rides are provided for guests.
Reservations can be made starting two weeks in advance to the day before the visit. Rates are 170,000 won Monday through Thursday and 200,000 won Friday through Sunday. Guests can use the cabanas from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Parnas Hotel launches mall
Parnas Hotel, which owns and runs the Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas and Intercontinental Seoul COEX in Samseong-dong, opened a shopping mall on the former’s basement floor. The mall has replaced the tailor and jewelry shops that previously occupied the space to incorporate fashion and cosmetic brands, restaurants and cafes targeting trendy office workers in their 20s to 40s. Visitors can
also enjoy music and works of art there. The Parnas Mall is located in proximity to the Hyundai Department Store and the COEX mall.
Buddhism org. recommends unique temple stays
Cultural Corps of Korean Buddhism recommends three unique temple stay programs for autumn. Daewon Temple in Sancheong, South Gyeongsang Province, offers meditation consultation, mind healing sessions, and physical health improvement classes using herbs. Dogap temple in Yeongam, South Jeolla Province, offers entertaining programs which involves hanging out with the monks. Yongmun Temple’s temple stay in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, offers a traditional program which involves praying at dawn and bowing 108 times.
